Charles Ellis brings lived experience, accountability, resilience, and hope into rooms where meaningful conversation can create real understanding.

Author · Poet · Speaker · Podcast Host · Veteran

A voice shaped by the road—not just the destination.

Charles Ellis speaks from a life that has required him to confront choices, consequences, loss, responsibility, and transformation.

As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, author, poet, host of The Unspoken Voices Podcast with Chuck Ellis, and developer of lived-experience educational programming, Charles connects personal truth to the questions facing people, classrooms, institutions, and communities today.

“Real experience becomes valuable when we are willing to examine it, learn from it, and use what we learned to help someone else make a better decision.”

Featured Black History Presentation

Black History Through Lived Experience: Bush Arbor

Through poetry, history, lived experience, and guided conversation, Charles Ellis uses “Bush Arbor” as a doorway into deeper discussions about Black history, memory, faith, family, survival, identity, resilience, and the stories that have often been carried through generations without being fully documented.

This presentation is designed to move beyond dates and names alone. It uses literature as a starting point for examining how history is remembered, how culture is preserved, how personal stories connect to larger historical experiences, and why understanding the past remains important today.

Presentation May Include

  • Reading and exploration of selected portions of “Bush Arbor”
  • Historical context connected to the themes within the work
  • Discussion of Black family, community, memory, survival, and cultural preservation
  • Charles Ellis’s lived-experience perspective
  • Guided audience discussion and reflection
  • Question-and-answer session
